Pittsburgh Chapter NTMA Members Honored with Prestigious Safety Award
The Pittsburgh Chapter NTMA is proud to announce that several of its member companies have been recognized with the NTMA Safety Award, a testament to their unwavering commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards in the manufacturing industry. 2024 companies recognized include: Ace Wire Spring & Form Co., Inc., Aggressive Grinding Service, Inc., Chick Machine Company, Hamill Manufacturing Company, and Stellar Precision Components.
Safety is a critical aspect of manufacturing. The most immediate and obvious reason for prioritizing safety is to protect the health and wellbeing of employees, but a safe work environment also contributes to higher productivity levels. As David Huston, Director of Engineering & Customer Development, as well as the Safety Committee Chairman at Hamill Manufacturing Company shares, ” We work on very demanding projects with highly specific technical requirements and aggressive schedule deadlines. Accomplishing our goals is only possible by keeping safety the number one priority every day, hour, minute, and second. Nothing is more important to Hamill than the people who are a part of our team.”
Many companies have created a Safety Committee, which encourages open communication and creates a strong safety culture. “The activities and meetings of our safety committee are plainly visible throughout the plant,” explains Brian Durkin, Quality Manager and member of Ace Wire Spring & Form’s Safety Committee. “The message this sends to our workforce is powerful.”
The Pittsburgh Chapter NTMA congratulates all the award-winning companies for their exceptional commitment to safety and thanks them for setting an example for others to follow. Their achievements not only reflect positively on their own organizations but also contribute to the overall advancement of the manufacturing industry.
What is the NTMA Safety Award?
The NTMA Safety Award is presented annually to companies that demonstrate outstanding safety performance and proactive measures in creating a safe work environment.
Member companies are invited to self-evaluate their safety protocols and submit their findings via a safety survey, which is developed in accordance with OSHA Form 300A. Each shop’s score is calculated according to the size of its team and other details. If the company is considered top performing, the NTMA will award a certificate that can be proudly displayed in their shop.
Information regarding the 2025 application process will be sent via email. If you’re not receiving our emails, please reach out to office@pghntma.org to sign up today.
