Baldwin-Whitehall School District Students “What’s So Cool About Manufacturing” Video Contest

Ace Wire Spring & Form Co. Inc. is proud to announce its participation in the “What’s So Cool About Manufacturing” Student Video Contest, an initiative by Catalyst Connection. This career awareness program is designed to introduce middle school students to the exciting world of manufacturing, highlighting the numerous career opportunities available in this vital industry.

Fostering Community Involvement

Ace Wire Spring & Form Co. has a long-standing commitment to community engagement. By participating in this contest, we aim to bridge the gap between local manufacturing companies and the community. This initiative allows us to showcase our operations to students, parents, and community members, informing them about the important work we do and the potential career paths in manufacturing.

Inspiring the Next Generation

Catalyst Connection’s program provides a unique platform for middle school students to gain hands-on experience and insights into the manufacturing sector. This year, Baldwin-Whitehall School District has chosen Ace Wire Spring & Form Co. for their video project. We are excited to host a team of seven students and their teacher coach for this enriching experience.

Contest Details:

  • Student Engagement: The students will visit our manufacturing facility twice—first for a tour and then for filming b-roll footage and conducting interviews.
  • Creative Storytelling: Students will brainstorm and storyboard a compelling narrative to highlight what makes manufacturing cool. They will create a 2.5-minute video that aligns with the contest’s theme.
  • Marketing Skills: The students will develop a marketing plan and think of innovative ways to promote their video during the online voting week.
  • Awards Ceremony: A formal awards ceremony will be held in the spring to celebrate the students’ achievements, attended by students, parents, teachers, school administrators, and manufacturing companies.
  • Statewide Competition: Some teams will advance to the Statewide Competition in Harrisburg, PA, in the spring.

Enhancing Educational Experiences

Participating in the “What’s So Cool About Manufacturing” contest allows students to:

  • Explore the world of manufacturing
  • Express themselves through creative storytelling and video production
  • Learn to work with video equipment and editing software
  • Develop project management and marketing skills
  • Collaborate effectively as a team

Previous Engagements

This is not the first time Ace Wire Spring & Form Co. has engaged with educational institutions. In 2018, Montour School featured us in their project, and although they did not win, we received a heartfelt, handmade award from the students. This year, we hope to create even more impactful and professional videos that can be used for our marketing efforts.

By participating in this initiative, Ace Wire Spring & Form Co. aims to not only raise awareness about manufacturing careers but also to reinforce our commitment to community involvement and educational outreach.
